Redlands University Unique Degree Programs
With the horrible state of the economy, many people are now going back to school to pursue high earning careers. I am one of those that has been considering going back to get a bachelor’s degree. I currently have an Associate’s degree and a Business Diploma and they both are getting me nowhere. I definitely need something more along the lines of a business degree or even better some type of Internet related degree.
I recently came across Redlands University, a California business school and noticed that they offer some great academic programs and have an excellent reputation to match!
Here are a few of the programs of study that interest me:
Communicative Disorders - Mainly I listed this because it's a unique program that I have never even heard of - though it has been part of their campus for more than 50 years!
Creative Writing - As most of you know, I love writing. When I was in college we took creating writing courses but never had an actual major for it. I think it would be pretty cool to have a major based on more creative type writing rather than journalism.
Meditation Room - Something else I've never heard of a school having. Though it's listed under the programs of study, I think this is more of a place of relaxation for students.
"The Meditation Room is equipped with 28 zabutons (square meditation cushions) and 28 zafus (round meditation cushions), 28 yoga mats, kneeling benches, folding chairs, and a cubbyhole at the door for shoes and back packs."
Race & Ethnic Studies - This is definitely not a program of study for close minded or light hearted people. This is a program that I definitely wouldn't mind having as a double major with something else!
Women's and Gender Studies - It's interesting to see a whole major based around this. Once again, when I was in college we had courses on this but not a whole major. Of course, that was about 10 years ago; my how things have changed.
Maybe you want to become a teacher or you already have a bachelor’s degree and want to get a master’s degree, this school covers all of that for you.
So if you're in the Los Angeles area and looking for a great Southern California university, definitely check out Redlands. It's actually ranked as a top university on the Forbes list - which definitely says a lot!
